I have always had an itch to travel. The NEED to explore the world and discover the unknown. My cousin refers to it as, “itchy feet” and has reassured me that it’s okay! Yet, I have been told countless times, “You need to be more stable…you have the travel bug…this is not the RIGHT way to live!”
I have been asked over and over again, “Didn’t you get it out of your system already?“
Out of all the questions, statements, and opinions, I am still left with the same feelings. I feel MOST alive wandering and navigating through new places. When I say ALIVE, I mean that I feel ENERGIZED seeing other ways of life, talking to new people, hearing various languages, and trying different foods. Most importantly, I feel HAPPY.
I have diagnosed myself with a case of itchy feet.
How can we live our HAPPIEST life?
When I think of the word HAPPY, I find myself hiking through a rustic Spanish village in Málaga, stopping to practice yoga overlooking pure nature. I am flying to the Middle East, to what seems like another world, exploring the desert then going for a float in the Dead Sea. I am strolling down teeny tiny, lively streets of Athens, in search of the BEST Greek food.
The above visions are fondest memories from some of the adventures I have already taken, and they are also examples of the endless possibilities of where we all can go next!
Happy to me may mean something different to you. Perhaps reading a captivating book ignites that happy, “over-the-moon” feeling for you. Maybe taking a painting class that sparks your creativity, watching a colorful sunset, being part of a sports team, and/or riding a bike with a friend consumes you with happiness.
What makes you HAPPY?
Take a moment to think about what truly makes you happy (you can close your eyes if you’d like). What brings a smile to your face?
Now look even closer at the picture you have created in your mind…Where are you? What are you doing? Who are you with?
If you are ready to live your HAPPIEST life, try to get in tune with what TRULY makes your heart HAPPY.
